AMSTERDAM - Modehuis Jos van Raak toonde gisteren de wintercollectie 2008 in de Westerkerk in Amsterdam. Daarnaast wordt de Raak-lijn, in het teken van de glamoureuze jaren dertig, geshowd door onder meer Froukje de Bot.

Vanaf 1 september t/m 1o september vindt van het kunstproject 9straatjesROOD plaats. Het kunstproject is een initiatief van telecombedrijf Vodafone, dat vanaf die datum officieel een kantoor heeft in de hoofdstad.
De bekende negen straatjesin de Amsterdamse grachtengordel worden gedurende anderhalve week op verschillende manieren ‘rood gekleurd’. Een jury koos hiervoor uit 120 inzendingen negen ontwerpen, bedacht door 11 kunstenaars. Bedenker en uitvoerder van het project is The Garage Creations.

Burgemeester Job Cohen heeft zaterdag een expositie van

vijftig bewerkte Amsterdammertjes geopend. De expositie

is een initiatief van de ondernemersvereniging van het

Spiegelkwartier. De vereniging had kunstenaars opgeroepen

om hun eigen interpretatie te geven aan de wereldberoemde

paaltjes. Door herprofilering van stoepen en straten

verdwijnen er steeds meer uit het straatbeeld.

Ook burgemeester Cohen maakte zijn eigen creatie op een

Amsterdammertje. Zijn kunstwerk en de vijftig anderen

worden zondag geveild. De opbrengst gaat naar een goed doel

Amsterdam Against Racism

Demonstrators of all races and colours crowded Amsterdam's

central square Saturday, braving wind and sleet to show their

opposition to anti-immigration legislator Geert Wilders.
The protest, called "Netherlands Shows Its Colours,"

is primarily a reaction in advance to the short film Wilders

says he will release later this month criticizing the Qur'an,

the Islamic holy book, as a "fascist" book.

I'm very much against Geert Wilders and racism in general,

but I think it's really important to show not only Holland

but the rest of the world

that there's a lot of people who do not agree with his ideas.

FREEDOM FOR TIBET

Zo'n honderd actievoerders zijn dinsdagavond op de Dam bij

elkaargekomen om hun steun te betuigen aan het Tibetaanse volk.

Zij protesteren tegen het optreden van de Chinese autoriteiten

tegen de demonstranten in Tibet en tegen de vermeende

onderdrukking van deTibetanen in het algemeen.

De International Campaign for Tibet Europe, de Tibet

Support GroepNederland en de Tibetaanse Gemeenschap

in Nederland organiseren de bijeenkomst.

De demonstranten hebben Tibetaanse vlaggen bij zich en

spandoeken met teksten als 'China onderdrukt Tibet'.

Veel van de actievoerders waren tibetanen die in nederland

wonen, met betraande ogen verwerkten ze hun verdriet .

From 14 March 2008 Foam presents STASI – Secret Rooms

by the German artist duo Daniel & Geo Fuchs. The exhibition

opens up the hidden rooms once used by the STASI,

the infamous East German secret service, in a series of

monumental photos. While much of the formerDDR infrastructure

has been destroyed, or given an entirely new function,

the clandestine spaces that Daniel and Geo Fuchs photographed

are still in their original condition. Offices, cell complexes,

bunkers, living quarters and interrogation rooms:

everything is exactly the way it was before 'Die Wende'.

The typical East European interiors, with their functional

furniture and sober colours seem remarkably stylised

The chicken-and-egg-no-problem wall-painting is the new

installation that Tobias Rehberger (1966, Esslingen, Germany)

realizes especially for the Stedelijk Museum. The artist

creates this seventy metres long work, using a selection of more

than forty of his sculptures, environments and video

pieces produced over the last fifteen years. In situ,

he will add a light plan and mural paintings
The title of the exhibition, is a reference by Rehberger to his

production method, which involves the creation of new

installations out of previous installations. The artist keeps on

asking himself: Which came first: the chicken or the egg?

And where do art works come from and where do they lead?

The same question can be applied to this exhibition:

is it a retrospective exhibition of sculptural work?

Or do the individual objects simply form the raw material

Amsterdam It Ain't Necessarily So

Arps&Co presenteerde in de Prinsenkelder, Dikker&Thijs Fenice,

Prinsengracht 444 vanavond een fototentoonstelling van de

Amerikaanse fotografe Elizabeth Kleinveld ,Rogi Wieg draagde

gedichten voor, de opening werdt verricht door Molly Ackerman.

The exhibition, 'It Ain't Necessarily So,' is a synthesis of Rogi Wieg's

poetry and Elizabeth Kleinveld's photography, which together

tell the story of the transformative effect of having to rebuild

anew. An artist's journey through the wake of Hurricane Katrina,

as she searched to find meaning in the seemingly meaninglessness

and move on. On the other side of the destruction, her quest to

breathe color and "joie de vivre" back into her life took root,

and so the series Bloemen was born. 'It Ain't Necessarily So'

means that it could have been different, but it wasn’t, because

the above described mechanism is as old as the world.

It is an endless varying rebirth.

Allegories & Macabresques comprises a serie of eighteen portraits

(2004-2007) including among others David Lynch holding a hen,

Mads Mikkelsen observing an embryo of a cat, Jan Peszek over

and old watch or Jerzy Urban with a naked woman and a

Cuban cigar.The presented collection is the result of a struggle

by the artist with the message of the Portuguese proverb

"These who see faces do not see hearts".

It represents the sum of three years of work.Although they

are simple portraits, the effect is such that several viewers

had nightmares after watching them.

Amsterdam One Day Wonder

Kunstenares Albertien Enthoven exposeerde vandaag

twee smeltende ijssculpturen op de Torensluisbrug aan het

Singel. Ze wil hiermee aandacht vragen voor de klimaat

veranderingen. De sculpturen hebben een link met de

stijgende zeespiegel, aldus Enthoven. De kunstenares

wil met haar project ook bewustwording bij kinderen bereiken.

Ze heeft voor de ijssculpturen gekozen vanwege de

vergankelijkheid ervan. "Het verwijst naar de opwarming

van de aarde, maar is ook een herinnering aan ijsplezier.

Schaatsen op de gracht is al tien jaar niet meer voorgekomen. "

In de Nieuwmarktbuurt in Amsterdam werdt woensdag het

begin van het nieuwe jaar ingeluid met een Chinese

leeuwendans. Ieder jaar wordt in de Nieuwmarktbuurt te

Amsterdam het begin van het nieuwe jaar ingeluid met

een Chinese leeuwendans optocht van de Chinees Nederlandse

Cultuur & Wushu Stichting en de Zhang Bingxin Liuhemen

vereniging. De organisatie van dit evenement gebeurt in

samenwerking met een groot aantal vrijwilligers

afkomstig uit Amsterdam en omstreken.

Amsterdam Painting on Ice

Een aantal kunstenaars van The Gallery waaronder

,,Profundus,, maakten vandaag op de ijsbaan aan het

Leidseplein een schilderij van 300 vierkante meter.

Nadat het schilderij gereed is zal er een laagje water

over het kunstwerk gespoten worden. Daarna kan men

op het kunstwerk gaan schaatsen. Het doek zal op

6 januari geveild worden.de opbrengst gaat naar de

Johan Cruyff Foundation.

Vanavond was ik in ,,Tuschinski ,,waar het Amsterdamse

documentaire film festival IDFA dit jaar is neergestreken,

in zaal 1 was de Wereld Premiere van de film FACES

waarin straatfotograaf JR gevolgd wordt tijdens zijn

Face 2 Face project ,na afloop was er een uitzinnig

applaus voor de makers van de film G MAX en JR .

In March 2007 French photographer, street artist JR and

his friend Marco embarked on the biggest illegal photo

exhibition ever. Enormous portraits were pasted on both

sides of the Wall of Separation, as well as in eight Palestinian

and Israeli cities. The portraits were shot by JR and depicted

laughing Israeli and Palestinians who hold the same job on

different sides of the Wall of Separation. By pasting them side

to side, 'Face 2 Face', on the notorious Wall of Separation,

JR urged both Israelis and Palestinians to fight the stereotypes

of 'the other' through the faces. The documentary Faces tells

the fascinating story behind the Face 2 Face project. From the

first photo shoots to the eventual pasting in such hotbeds like

Bethlehem, Tel Aviv, Hebron and Ramallah: the camera was

there, capturing JR's work, the pasting, but also the

emotional reactions of the people of Israel and Palestine.

The pasting of the portraits is but one aspect of the movie.

The enormous posters of smiling Israeli and Palestinians

form the starting-point of a trip and a reflection led by

normal everyday people from the region, as well as by those

who think and shape reality in this part of the world.

Amsterdam Anne Frank Tree

Samen met 20 filmploegen stond ik in de binnentuin

van keizersgracht 186 plaatjes te maken van de boom .

Bestuursrechter J. Bade heeft zo juist met deskundigen

van de bomen stichting de Anne Frank boom bekeken.

Een medewerkster van de bomenstichting legde na afloop

uit aan At5 dat de beslissing van de rechter nog moest komen.

De kap van de Anne Frankboom mag voorlopig niet doorgaan.

De bestuursrechter heeft dit dinsdagavond bekend gemaakt.

De rechter schorst de kapvergunning tot twee weken nadat het

stadsdeel over de bezwaren van de Bomenstichting en de

buurtbewoners heeft beslist. Volgens de rechter is de situatie

niet dermate accuut dat er geen gelegenheid meer bestaat om

noodmaatregelen te treffen. De rechter ziet nog ruimte

voor betrokken partijen om overeenstemming bereiken over

dergelijke maatregelen. Ook kan dan verder onderzoek naar

alternatieven gedaan worden om de paardekastanje te redden.

Amsterdam Anne Frank Tree

Deze foto,s zijn gemaakt vanuit een raam van de woning

van de hr Silvio Mutal (gepensioneerd VN funtionaris)

als buurman van het Anne Frankhuis strijd hij al lang voor

het behoud van de boom.Op de eerste en laatste foto zie je

een grote foto gemaakt door de hr Mutal in mei van dit jaar

waarin te zien is dat de boom helemaal vol zit met blad wat

toch laat zien dat de boom nog vol energie zit .

Amsterdam by night

Amsterdam de Westertoren in Amsterdam is woensdagavond

blauwgekleurd. Woensdag op Wereld Diabetes Dag zullen

wereldwijd meer dan 150 monumenten blauw kleuren.

Zoals hier de Westerkerk, maar ook het Empire State building

in New York, de Eiffeltoren in Parijs en het Opera house in Sydney.

Amsterdam 15 minutes of Fame

Zaterdag vondt de 8e editie van de Museumnacht plaats.

Het stedelijk museum staat in het teken van Andy Warhol

de Pop Art-kunstenaar die iedereen fifteen minutes of fame

voorspelde. Onbekende kunstenaars kregen ieder hun 15

minuten beroemdheid in de vorm van exposeertijd in het

museum. Elke 15 minuten werdt er van expositie veranderd.
